Lots of news and notes

Where to start today....lots of stuff.
The Billings Mustangs and the GCL Reds both begin their seasons today. Rookie ball, here we come! There are quite a few guys to keep your eyes on for both teams. Of course, I will be adding them into the minor league updates every day with game stats.

The Billings Gazette has a good article up about Drew Stubbs and the upcoming season. You can read it by clicking here

Homer Bailey will make his first start in Chattanooga on Thursday at home against Carolina. John Fay has a piece on Bailey in his "Reds Notebook". Lets just hope this part of his article is inaccurate about Bailey:
If Bailey's successful at Double-A, his next stop could be Cincinnati. Double-A players often get September call-ups.
I am a big fan of Homers, but to call him up anytime this year would be a VERY bad idea. Anyways, you can read the entire article by John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer here.

The Hardball Times has a piece up on the Midwest League All-Star break and they had to choose the All-Star most likely to succeed and this is what they said:
Justin Upton is the easy pick here, but I'm going with Dayton's Jay Bruce instead. Bruce is a five-tool player that was also among the most productive hitters in the Pioneer League last year. Bruce just turned 19 a couple months ago, and he already has over 60 extra-base hits as a professional in the Cincinnati Reds system.
