More news and notes

Though the Dragons remained in playoff contention most of the second half, first-year manager Billy Gardner Jr.'s job could be in jeopardy, according to the Dayton Daily News. Gardner was hired by former Reds farm director Tim Naehring, and Naehring's successor, Johnny Almaraz, is making changes. He fired Dragons pitching coach Larry Pierson in July, and already has told Gulf Coast League manager Luis Aguayo and pitching coach Jaime Garcia they won't be back.
