Sean Watson was drafted in the second round by the Reds after his Junior season as the closer for the University of Tennessee. Sean throws a fastball and an above average knuckle/curve that sits in the low to mid 80's. He seemed to do a little of both starting and a relieving for both Billings and Dayton. He pretty much was ahead of the curve in the Pioneer League and was promoted accordingly. However when he got to Dayton he struggled quite a bit, allowing 22 hits in 14.2 innings. He still had a good strikeout ratio in Dayton, but he just seemed to get hit way to much. He had inconsistent mechanics while he was in college, which at times led to control problems. I would not be surprised if that was his problem again in Dayton. I would look for Sean to begin his season in Dayton next year, but the question still remains, will he be starting or relieving?
