4-12-2006 Minor League Rundown

Dayton

Well, Dayton had another rough night of it, losing 10-4 to Lansing. On the offensive side of thing, Paul Janish continued hitting the ball well, going 2-4 scoring a run and driving in another. Jay Bruce went 0-4 with a walk and a strikeout. His outfielder to his left B.J. Szymanski went 0-4 with a walk and 4 strikeouts. As for the pitchers, they fared about as well as the outfielders. Fisher, Stevens, Camaerdese, Lanier and George all gave up at least 1 run. They combined to allow 14 hits and walked 5.

Sarasota

Sam Lecure. Get to know the name. Lecure was last years 4th round pick. He made his second start for Sarasota tonight. 7 innings pitched, 1 hit, 1 walk and 9 strikeouts. Lecure was drafted out of Texas, where he did not pitch his Junior year, which led to the Reds getting him in the 4th round. I really like what the 2005 draft has done so far. Speaking of the 2005 draft, the guy they took with their 31st round pick, Abe Woody, came in the game in the 9th to close it up after Blake Hendley took care of the 8th. The Reds won the game 2-0. Quinton McCracken and Jason Larue are both in Sarasota on rehab. McCracken went 3-4 with a run and a triple while Larue went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts.

Chattanooga

The Lookouts won tonight 4-2 over the Carolina Mudcats. Travis Chick started the game but only last 3.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs. Chick left the game in the 4th inning due to a leg injury, but at this time I don't know the extent of it, but when information is available it will be posted. Recently acquired pitcher Jon Coutlangus picked up the win by going 2.1 innings of 4 strikeout hitless baseball. Offensively the Lookouts onnly collected 4 hits, but they did rack up 6 walks. They scored 3 unearned runs off of Mudcats starter Adam Bostick, but went hitless over the last 3.1 innings after Bostick left the game.

Louisville

Louisville beat up on Syracuse tonight to the tune of 8-2. Justin Germano pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 6 hits, 0 walks and 2 runs while striking out 4. Ryan Wagner came on to take care of the last 1.2 innings while only allowing 1 base runner, a walk. He also struck out 1. Frank Menechino and Chris Denorfia both went 2-5 with a double and an RBI. Denorfia scored twice. Jesse Gutierrez went 3-5, with 2 doubles, a HR, 3 RBI and scored twice.
