4/19/2006 Minor League Scores/Recaps

Dayton falls in 10 to Quad Cities, 5-4
  • Zach Ward made the start for Dayton. Ward made it 5 innings, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 0. He gave up 4 runs, 3 earned. Bo Lanier pitched the 9th inning and kept the game tied. He was brought back to pitch the 10th, where he led off the inning with a walk, single and an intentional walk before being removed from the game in favor of Wayne Lundgren. Lundgren struck out the first batter he faced, but gave up a single to the next hitter to end the game. On the offensive side of things Paul Janish went 2-5 with a home run, Jay Bruce went 2-4 with a double, walk and 2 runs scored and Eric Eymann went 2-4 with an RBI. For the season Bruce is now hitting .327 with 6 doubles, 2 triples and a HR.
Sarasota rallies in the 8th to win 7-4
  • A 5 run 8th inning gave the Reds the lead after giving it up in the bottom of the 4th. James Avery made the start but only lasted 3.2 innings after allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. The top of the ordered (1-2-3) combined to go 0-13. Cody Strait went 4-5 with 4 doubles and an RBI to go along with the 2 runs he scored. Drew Anderson came up to the plate in the 8th inning with the bases loaded, he came through in the clutch by hitting a 3 run triple to take the lead 6-3.
Chattanooga beats Mobile 5-4
  • Luis Bolivar went 2-3 and he scored 2 runs including one of the go ahead runs in the 5th inning thanks for an Eric Crozier single. Joey Votto continued to slump, going 0-4 with 3 strikeouts. Steve Kelly went 6.1 innings and picked up the win to improve his record to 2-0. Jon Coutlangus came in and pitched a scoreless 1.2 innings only giving up a hit and a walk.
Louisville falls to Syracuse 4-0
  • Elizardo Ramirez made an excellent start going 6 innings of 3 hit and no walk baseball. He allowed no runs and had 7 strikeouts. Ryan Wagner on the other hand, had a very bad outting allowing 4 hits and 4 runs, including a walk over 1.2 innings to pick up the loss. The offense did not help much, as they only combined for 4 hits on the day.
