News, Notes and some other information

  • It looks like Sarasota and the Reds are in trouble of no longer being close. City Council has told the Reds that they will need to up their contribution of $10 Million in order to get the deal done, but the Reds have said that is about as much as they can do. This could get interesting.

  • The Baseball Analysts came out with the second part of their top 75 Prospects today. The Reds had a third player join Homer Bailey (10) and Jay Bruce (11) in the top 75. Chattanooga Lookouts 1B Joey Votto came in at #56. Here is what they had to say:

56. Joey Votto, 1b: Reds (AA)

I was told a couple years ago by an industry executive that Votto would break out in 2005. It appears my information was a year early, as Votto has been fantastic this season, making Adam Dunn's non-move to 1B look genius. He should be manning the corner in Cincy by Opening Day 2008, at the latest.
