Power and speed generally do not mix in the world of baseball, as players who excel in one category usually lack in the other. This is not the case with Strait, who hit 17 homers for the Class A Advanced Sarasota Reds while swiping a league-leading 50 bases. The 23-year-old, continuing his 2006 campaign with the Phoenix Desert Dogs, is coming off a monster week in which he collected eight hits and drove in seven runs over just five games.

The highlight of Strait's recent hot stretch came during Saturday's 11-8 win against the Scottsdale Scorpions. With one on and one out in the seventh inning, the Texas native launched his first homer of the AFL season to give the Desert Dogs a lead they would not relinquish. Strait currently ranks third in the league in average (.382), fifth in on-base percentage (.476) and second in stolen bases (5).
